Join Us

Welcome, bienvenue, wilkommen, witamy, bienvenido, fáilte to Dublin Swimming Club.

We always welcome new members!

If you:

  • Have recently moved to Dublin,
  • Swam competitively when you were younger,
  • Have done, or do triathlons,
  • Would like to do the Liffey Swim, or other sea swims, or
  • If you simply have that competitive urge to swim again…

… then Dublin Swimming Club is an ideal choice for you.

How do I join?

New members can join throughout the year; existing members will be asked to renew both their club and Swim Ireland membership on or before the 1st of November each year.

Membership of Swim Ireland is mandatory for members of Dublin Swimming Club - both competing and non-competing - and is included in the club membership fee. Swim Ireland membership ensures you can participate as an insured swimmer in all Open Water Committee races and Masters pool races linked to Swim Ireland.

In the first year membership is a little different. There are two forms for new members, one for Swim Ireland and one for our club - you need to complete both. On the club form there is a nominator and seconder, this is so that we can see you swim for safety reasons - e.g. if you wished to compete in an open water race – the club would have an understanding of your ability (swimming being potentially more dangerous than e.g. running for novices). We suggest you attend a club training session and bring the forms then.

New members please complete this form and the Swim Ireland membership form here.

Renewing members - please use this online form

New members must read and accept the Club Constitution and rules and must also complete the Swim Ireland registration form.

Forms will also be accepted and available at any of our training sessions; please feel free to join us.

How much does it cost?

To encourage as many as possible, we have reduced the annual membership to €65 for competing and just €48.50 for non-competing members (the fee for both covers Swim Ireland affiliation). See our full fee schedule for more details, including family membership rates. To encourage early renewals the following applies:

€65 for those renewing before April 1, 2017. The €65 continues to apply to all new members.

€75 for those renewing on or after April 1, 2017

Coached Training Session Rates:

Sportsco: €7 standard, €4 students, members of Sportsco and unwaged
UCD: €8 standard, €4 students, members of UCD Sports Centre and unwaged

Westwood: €6 standard, €3 members of Westwood and unwaged.

Where is Dublin Swimming Club located?

The club is for anyone living in Dublin but we train in Sportsco, Ringsend, Dublin 4, UCD, Belfield, Dublin 4 and Westwood in Clontarf.

Masters Swimmers:

  • Westwood: Tuesdays 9pm-10pm
  • Sportsco: Thursdays 9pm – 10pm
  • UCD: Sundays 8:45am – 9:45am

What do I get in return for joining?

There are coached sessions in our pool sessions to cater for all abilities from improvers to competitive swimmers.

For competitive members, membership allows you enter galas and sea swims. You get an opportunity to be part of a very special sport and to compete in some of the great sporting events in Ireland such as The Liffey Swim.

Most importantly, you get to be involved in a swimming club with a fabulous heritage and tradition where many before you have become great friends while competing to their maximum ability.
