Open Sea Practice Swim
There will be high tides the week before the first Open Sea race on 2nd June, so one of our members, Mairead, will be taking a group of swimmers to Seapoint on the evening (7pm) of May 30th for some open sea practice.
The intention is to give some practical tips about open water swimming followed by a short swim. You can wear a wetsuit for the swim if you wish, but make sure to bring some warm clothes, including a fleece and woolly hat, to wear afterwards.
Please note that this is not an official club event, but an informal gathering of like-minded swimmers. Bear in mind that open water swimming is a potentially hazardous activity and that all swimmers participate at their own risk.
Please register your interest below if you intend to come along (your contact details will only be used for notices about this event).
Dublin Swimming Club Sea Race Announced for June 24
The Dublin Swimming Club Sea Race has been announced for Sunday June 24 2012.
Windsurfers Pier near Dun Laoghaire is the venue for the 2012 race. The men’s race starts at 2.45 with the ladies following after at 3.30. We look forward to another great event (and the weather we had in 2011).
Details of other races in this season are available from the Swim Leinster website, so far only in draft form.
Dublin Swimming Club Website Relaunched
Welcome to the new Dublin Swimming Club website!
Eoghan Murphy TD relaunched the site at the Swan Leisure Rathmines on April 26, when we also kicked off our recent series of Open Water information sessions.
Over the course of two evenings, first in Swan Leisure, then Sportso Ringsend on May 3rd, Dublin Swimming Club was delighted to welcome almost 50 attendees from outside our club. There was a real mix of ages and a rough breakdown of two to one male to female. Those attending ranged from novice swimmers to triathletes, people returning to the sport after an absence and those simply curious about open water swimming.
Thanks to the many club swimmers and committee members who helped out on the night, and especially to Eoghan Murphy, pictured below.
